    Sweet moments

View similar posts in ~ All; Family.

We were watching a movie the other day, the whole family. The youngest and I were cuddling and I, in my almighty wisdom, pointed the following out to the hubby.

me: “This is how you do it honey.”

hubby: Looks at the youngest cuddling, willingly I might add, then grunts with a roll of his eyes.

    I don’t give up.

me(cuddling the youngest in closer): “Some woman is going to be soooo lucky.”

hubby: Doesn’t even look my way.

youngest suddenly looks up at me: “Mom, something’s bad.”

    me: “Bad?”

    he wrinkles nose: “Real bad.”

I frown but before I can say anything he takes my head in both his little hands and peers earnestly up at me.

    “Its your breath!”

    :-P

I don’t think the hubby has stopped laughing yet.

    NaNo

View similar posts in ~ All; Goals/Tracking; Writing.

I’m doing it again this year and this year…I’m writing just to write. I suppose that is how we are supposed to do it but I like the idea of writing things ‘right’ from the beginning. Of course it has taken me three years to figure out…I can’t do that.

    :-)

And having finally not only come to realize this but accepted it, accepted the fact that no matter how hard I try I’m going to be rewriting the entire thing…I’m free to write crap! Yippee!!!! Of course I ‘think’ as I always do that the first copy is marvelous and spectacular and award winning writing that is just going to floor everyone.

    :-)

Yep, that’s the truth. I do. Even this time. I think what I’ve written is really, really cool.

I know. Crazy. But, hey, we all have our fantasies.

    :-)

And at least I’m having fun.

So anyhow, I’m inviting you to join two different groups specifically for connecting, sharing and having fun while participating in NaNo this year.

First is for Rain–She has a brand new website - www.crystalrainlove.com - she has a forum you can join and is going to have lots of contests and give aways specifically for Nano! Check it out!

The second is for me - I’m keeping things very simple this year. It seems I have friends on every group out there doing nano and keeping track is impossible.  So I decided to create a yahoo group that is simple, informal and just a way to centralize. With yahoo the email comes right to your inbox and the group is open to all, so if I know you from facebook, twitter, RWA or one of the groups here in Iowa or one of the many other groups out there…we can all meet in one place. Simple. It should be a small group but you are all welcome.

    Here is the link:

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/colesnano_group/join

Hope to ’see’ you all there!

    Cole

    Pumpkins

We bought a pumpkin before October even arrived. Every day since, youngest has demanded we cut it so he could eat it.

Um, normally one does not eat pumpkin raw. Not saying its bad or anything but it would taste so much better cooked. He did not believe me. Finally two days ago we got around to carving pumpkins to his absolute delight.

    Well, kinda.

We cut it open and…one look in and he was NOT tasting that pumpkin.

He was not TOUCHING that pumpkin.

    Still makes me laugh. :-)

We had tears folks. Big, loud tears! Which I did not capture because I was busy consoling. LOL Poor guy. I do not know what he expected but whatever it was, it was not what he saw.

Finally, we got him to look at what his brother was doing. And then we even talked him into sticking his hand in there!

Did you know that to have fun gutting a pumpkin you must not have a shirt on?

    100_2207

And make lots of gross sounds.

    Bet you didn’t.

    :-)

    Sure sign of…

View similar posts in ~ All; Family.

When you have this conversation three times in one day, its a sure sign you are wearing sweatpants, a pony tail and a t-shirt too often.

I pick up the middle son after school–first words of hello–

middle: “Why are you all dressed up?”

me(huh?): “What are you talking about?” (I glance down–I’m wearing a pair of jeans and a turtle neck. Oh and I almost forgot, a pair of earings.)

    middle: “You’re all dressed up.”

me(I throw him a look): “We had mass this morning, this is what I wore to it, remember?” (see I don’t always wear sweatpants)

    middle: “Oh yeah, I forgot.”

I pick up the oldest from practice–first words of hello–

oldest: “Why you all dressed up?”

me(I roll my eyes): “Hello to you to. And, I’m not.”

oldest: “You’re wearing earrings aren’t you?”

me (glowering–I can’t possibly look that different from what I look like most days…can I?): “Today is Friday, we had mass at school for Tanner.”

    oldest: “Oh, okay.”

Husband arrives home–first words of hello–

hubby: “Do we have something going on tonight?”

me(oh you have got to be kidding me!): “No. How was your day?”

hubby(smiling): “Fine. So how is the mailman doing today?.”

me: “Paul?” (You know if any of you ever get a chance to read one of my books and there are conversations that seem to jump all over the place, its because I live it on a daily basis)

hubby(wags his eyebrows at me): “Like those earrings did he?”

me: “Oh for pete’s sake!” (I raise the straining spoon I’d been using to scoop out the noodles for spaghetti) “Like if I were having an affair with the mailman I’d really still be dressed up. I’d want to be hiding it, don’t you think?”

hubby(leans in to taste the spaghetti sauce with a shrug, obviously not phased in the least by my threatening stance with the plastic spoon): “Maybe you just look smart.”

Okay, now how in the world was I supposed to react to that I want to know?!

Oh and Paul, don’t worry, the hubby was just giving me crap.

I took this on the six block walk (uphill wouldn’t you know :-) ) from the finish of the race to our motel.
