Sloppy Jose

It’s been a while since I posted any recipes.  Always amazes me how fast time flies!

This recipe came from one of my sister-n-laws and I love it because it is so simple.  I love to do things from scratch, but there are definitely nights when right out of a can can’t be beat!

It’s basically a walking taco recipe.  For us this combination offers an extra bit of zing we all really like.  And it is so easy to alter things to fit your own tastes.  We always double it.

1 lb hamburger
1 small can green chili’s, drained
1 jar taco sauce
Dorito’s, crushed
black olives, sliced
cheddar cheese, shredded
chopped lettuce
chopped tomatoes
chopped onions

Brown hamburger, drain(I never drain as we usually use deer hamburger which is really lean and well, I like the extra flavor the juices provide :-) ),

Add chilies to sauce, simmer for 15 minutes.

In separate bowls, put all the ingredients you wish to have(the tomatoes, onions and so forth) according to the amounts you need for who is all eating.

Then in bowls for you to eat from, have everyone make their own meal, adding the chips first then the meat, then anything and everything else you might want on top.

Okay, now this picture–

–was taken after this meal had been prepared two more times from the above pictures.  I kept forgetting to take anymore pictures–I just wanted to eat! :-)

To keep this a healthier meal choice go light on the chips and/or use baked and use a lean meat.
