Bugs

Well I’ve finally skimmed things down and know how I want things for my pictures, blog posts and so forth. Only took me two years! ;-) Ironically I see the same kind of patterns emerge when I’m writing. I am more than willing to try things out, learn new things and go from there. Of course this then means a lot of clean up later on. Lots of extra stuff written that doesn’t need to be in the final draft but it also means I know my characters really well. I seem to do many things in life like this and my venture with the ‘net’ stuff has been no different. Thus why I decided it was time to ‘clean up’ and ‘trim down’. Not that you’d notice this other than a minor blip if you tried to come on by but it feels good to have things smooth and clean again. Fresh.

I’ve combined my Dailylog Blog with this one, 100_1511 dropped blogger and though I will continue to copy and post over at Harlequin and Myspace, but won’t do more than that. With the new way I’m doing the photos I don’t have to reload things. (And if myspace is funny, then the pictures simply aren’t going to get uploaded–people can come on over here to see them. :-) )

The thing was it actually took quite a bit of time to copy and post in these different places when there are always ‘issues’. Little bugs because each place does things differently. For blogger I’ve gone back and forth on whether to post over there. I’ve tried it both ways and have watched the stats for hits over there. It came down to two things–not enough hits to make it worthwhile and I really don’t keep the sidebar up to date. And THAT is time consuming too. And why am I trying to? Do you see any other writers out there trying to keep up posts at more than one place? I’m simply goofy sometimes. Or maybe I just like to procrastinate because its fun to ‘play’ with this computer stuff. (See I do know myself, I just like to pretend I have legit reasons for my madness :-) )

Myspace is one place that I do get a fair amount of hits and from people that don’t seem to venture outside of myspace. Not sure why–I’ve tried drawing them over here but it doesn’t happen. So I will continue to copy posts there but the program over there is funny when it comes to the pictures. I’m not going to sweat it though. I’m putting a notice in the sidebar and a link to over here if people get to wondering about why they don’t work.

Harlequin–I just love it. Soooo do I really need to say more? :-) I did alter how I do smilies though for everywhere initially because of Harlequin. The truth is, I’d never considered there being issues with bandwidth for smilies. Normal static smiles use next to nothing and for the most part are common. Animated smilies though use a ton and until the gals over at Harlequin asked me not to use them for several reasons, I’d never known. So when cleaning things up I decided to drop them all together because when I copy and paste I have to go through and alter every single one of them–Talk about time consuming! (Yeah, I used A LOT) That’s as bad as uploading the pictures again!  (oh and just so you know, you can use the universal keys to make smiles and make them appear.)

My Dailylog Blog was one of those things where it slowly dawned on me, I created it because I felt like it was ‘different’ and maybe shouldn’t be included in my writing blog. But then I’ve never had my writing blog as just that. I’ve always shared my life and so forth. And truly many of the posts I put here or there I felt overlapped. Drew upon the other. For example, my writing is most definitely influenced by how well I eat and if I get any exercise in. And when I’m running, guess what I’m thinking about? Yep, my writing. And I talk about that. So yeah, the two are one and the same.

Things aren’t completely organized over here yet but basically all the same pages I had over there are over here. The two main ones being my record of Exercise and the Recipes I’ve liked that I wanted to share. They are active already but I haven’t figured out how I to post the links. Pretty sure I’m going to put those two links at the top navigation bar and add my ‘About’ stuff to my bio page ect… but I have to figure out how to add a second line to my navigation bar. Normally its a simple matter of adding a < br > (without the spaces) but this particular template has some wonky coding. Why I picked it I have no idea.  ;-)  And to be honest I have no desire to try and rework another template. This one works in both ie and firefox. Think I’ll wait until it breaks from one of their updates before adding more work to myself.

So anyhow, like I said most of these changes are not things you’d notice, never would have if I’d never said anything. Just things I personally know I’ve cleaned up and cleared out.  It felt like spring cleaning! Appropriate timing don’t you think?!

Have a good one!
Cole
