A Sprout!

One of the things I’m making sure I take the time to do this year is to grow things. We don’t live in the country but this is still no reason why I can’t grow some things. No I can’t plant on the scale I used to in order to can and freeze and so forth but I let this thought stop me in the past. So what? Grow something! Its fun. And so I’ve started a few things and have even gotten my kids involved. (not a chore actually-they want to help) Its been a blast! Over the next few days I thought I’d share some photos.

This first picture is of the little groovy disk you can buy all pumped up with water. I wish I’d thought to take a picture of it when it was a flat but alas…

Son ‘4′ thought this was the coolest thing–to watch them grow right before his eyes! Then Son ‘12′ helped divy out the seeds to the 4.

This drove 4 nuts! He is soooo impatient! Do you see those little fists tightly clenched? Oh yeah, the noise level was not what you might have imagined. Planting in my household is NOISY!

Finally the planting began.

Two seeds per disk –

we did marigolds and cosmos. The marigolds will go for sure around my roses to help protect them from the rabbits who don’t seem to mind thorns. But DO mind marigolds.

A bit of water~

And whala! We did it! Our first plantings of the year in years!!! The older kids remember having gardens but my youngest does not. This is all new to him and watching him watch these plants grow has been worth every NOISY minute of this whole process.

A couple of days later ~

They have actually grown quite a bit from this but I need to take another picture. Maybe tomorrow. Though tomorrow I plan on sharing some photos of our little mini-vacation to a water park. So we’ll see. I suddenly have tons of things backed up to share so when I have time I am going to post.

A bit about my writing~~It has been going so well!!! I had to cuts tons out–several characters and scenes but I’m loving how its shaping up. I do believe with this latest development I shall be able to come in at the top of my word count required for the Presents line. How awesome is that? And I also wanted to share–a lot of this is all possible because of my renewed interest in running! I love it! It is amazing how exercise can truly help with ideas and issues not only in ones writing but in all areas of ones life.

Okay, I’m off to the store–4 and I planted 6 tomato plant seeds today(organic seeds–too cool). Have pictures of this I will share one of these days. And well, I have a ton more spots on this tray to fill–need to run to the store and get some more plants to plant!
