Weirdest Feeling
Last week I was cleaning things out–okay procrastinating–our water heater
died last Thursday evening. Drama? Oh yeah. It was like camping taking my shower the following morning after jogging. So yeah, I HAD to take a shower. The water was refreshingly cool. But the point here is I was waiting for people to call me back so I checked out my spam comments to make sure nothing was getting in my wordpress spam folder I didn’t want marked as spam. NEVER DONE IT BEFORE. So obviously I just trust it. Interesting place. I don’t understand what these people do for a life…I don’t have time to even check my spam folder 99.9% of the time yet they have time to write that crap?!
Anyhow, there is a section for pings(it shows you the link back to who has linked to you or your posts) — I followed a few of the links.
Its really, really weird to see your words highlighted or quoted or pointed at from sources you know absolutely nothing about. Really, really weird.
Took me a few to get ‘used’ to the idea that people were quoting me, or pointing me out as a source of a good article, interesting article or some such thing(thankfully none of them were slamming me). It was interesting. It also drove home a very important point–be sure about everything you say(publish) online. Everything is fair game. Of course being who I am, I decided this was a good introduction for me to what it would be like to get published someday…your words, your thoughts, a part of you will be open to the public and all that they might have to think and say about it.
WOW. Not something to take lightly.
And yet still I write…never said I was smart!
Oh and I almost forgot…here’s the ending of my story on the water heater:
I found someone who could come out and do it the day I called(on a Friday no less with potential not to get done until the following week ) and thankfully had taken that first photo you see above already. See, if you look closely you will see a board hanging down to the left of the heater–that is the laundry shoot. Ah, yeah, the last thing I needed on a day things were all going haywire to begin with was for my underwear to be front and center. Got that pile taken care of before the lovely fix-it man showed up.
Now I won’t go into everything because it literally was one thing after another on Friday, but there is one thing in particular I want to share with you — see this little black box with a controller on it?
Yeah, well if you happen to have kids, look at this BEFORE calling in help, BEFORE committing to putting in a new water heater…BEFORE you do anything!
Yeah, you have probably guessed it–our youngest decided to test things out and turned it off.
Okay what is really embarrassing about this whole story is, this has happened before with the furnace (see this post) . See this switch?
Can’t get any more visible than that! No different than the water heater’s switch, both of which I walk past every single day a thousand times at least every day. Yet I failed to notice them.
Well, we now have this lovely new heater in place.
Which will be more efficient and be better all the way around. In all truth the old one was about to be retired, we were expecting it to die any day and this obviously played into our reactions(my excuse for not checking the switch ), so its not the end of the world. It was just…one of those days.
On the writing end of things, I’m getting there. Little at a time, life is absolutely crazy right now but I’m getting there. Hard to believe it’s April! My deadline is suddenly looming. I’m still hanging in there with Sven on the off chance I do make it. We’ll see.
Okay hope you all are having a great week, I’m off to write! Take care,
Cole

been there, done that! eek! Our water heater (and the rest of the house)went “south” as we were planning and paying for our daughter’s wedding! LOL.
Yep, it was a cavalcade of “murphy’s law”. Enjoy the hot water and the writing.
As for me Cole, hubby and I are leaving in less than 48 hours to have our own “romance” novel-the vacation begins at 3 a.m. Friday.
Celebrity Millenium here we come!!!
