Favorite Place To Read
What is your favorite place to read?
I had to answer this question for entering a contest just today and at first I didn’t think much about it but as I wrote I realized that this is a really neat question. I mean, my answer wasn’t straight forward and the more I wrote, the more I thought — I bet most peoples answer isn’t standard. I bet everyone is unique and it probably is a lot of fun to see.
So here it is - where MY FAVORITE PLACE is:
I read in spurts, due mostly I think to how busy my life is. I won’t be able to read for days, maybe even weeks at a time and then I devour several books at once. A part of this is due I realize to the fact that once I start to read a book, I can’t put it down. I just have to read it now! So I do. I read while I’m folding laundry. I read while I’m washing dishes. I read while I’m picking up toys. I read while I’m… well, I think that you all get the idea.
In the end after several books I feel rejuvenated and can go another stint without reading and my family is eternally grateful as they will now have warm food to eat and clothes in the correct drawers.
But in direct answer to the question, my most favorite place to read at this point in my life is in bed, at night, after everyone has fallen asleep except me. I can read without trying to divide my attention and other then getting little to no sleep (as I couldn’t stop reading until I’d finished :)) I’m in sweet reading heaven. Just me and the story. Well, that is except for my hubby, but he’s sleeping!
So where is your favorite place? I’d love to see all of the unique places, or ways in which we each love to read!
Side Note: I’ve had several questions regarding Goldie - We can not treat the cancer. Thanks for your concern and heartfelt responses.

I can read anywhere. For now :-).
I have a big chair in my living room with an ottoman that matches it. When I bought it, it was with reading in mind. And I have spent a lot of time sitting in it. Someday I’m going to have a hammock so I can read outside in the spring and fall (the only time it’s bearable). I have a hammock we got in Mexico, but we can’t figure out where to hang it. But when I do, I’ll read out there too.
I don’t do very well at these “favorite” questions. It’s hard for me to have 1 favorite of anything.
Like you, I can read almost anywhere and everywhere. It’s easier to answer where I can’t read - on a cruise ship - too distracted by the beautiful sea.
BTW, I do enjoy your blog template. It’s very inviting. Have you gone to some blogs and cringed because the visual experience wasn’t enticing? Interesting, huh?
Hi Kathy! - What an interesting thought - the backgrounds of blogs - yes, I have in answer to your question and I do believe that you have just given me food for thought of a blog post for tomorrow!
Thanks for the compliment by the way!
April - I just love you! Do you know that!
You are always making me smile. Like your “I can read anywhere… for now” comment. Kids? Are you hinting?
One of the things that Bert and I will once in awhile point out to each other is the ‘Remember when we were back in college and thought that we had it sooo tough? We thought that we were sooo busy…’ Boy do we ever shake our heads at ourselfs in looking back at ‘us then’ these days. We didn’t know how easy we had it!
Enjoy your freedom!!!!
